That sounds better than buying a round of drinks in the 19th!
Golf is a game of traditions, one where caps are doffed, hands are shaked and when you are lucky enough to get a hole-in-one you purchase playing partners and anyone else lucky enough to be in the 19th a celebratory drink. This is a tradition unlike any other sport, where someone doing the remarkable actually has to put their hand in their pocket to quench the thirsts of others.
Well, the good people at Betfair have decided to right that wrong. Golfers playing the Cheltenham Festival Golf Day at the Celtic Manor Resort on 12th March have the opportunity to win a free £10,000 bet if they are lucky enough to ace the 211 yard par-3 17th hole. As the host of the 2010 Ryder Cup, the Celtic Manor has been fortunate to welcome the world’s best golfers to play its course, despite such illustrious players testing themselves against the 17th, they failed in getting a hole-in-one. Betfair will be hoping their bet is right or a very lucky golfer will be happy to buy the drinks in the 19th!
