Learning the Rules of Golf the Hard Way
Nov 7th
Almost certainly one of the strangest stories you will hear this year in golf. It involves a kid who goes by the name of Blayne Barber, who did something that can only happen in this ridiculous game. The story begins six days after Barber advanced to the second stage of the PGA Tour’s Q-School, when he called the tour and disqualified himself because of a dubious incident with a leaf in a bunker. The event occurred when Barber was unsure whether or not he had brushed a leaf in the sand trap on the 13th hole at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. He played the final two rounds as his caddie was sure the leaf hadn’t moved. “I continued to pray about it and think about it, and I just did not have any peace about it,” Barber said. “I knew I needed to do the right thing. I knew it was going to be disqualification.” More >

Today is the day golf fans around the world have been waiting for, the start of the US Masters which for many of us represents the true beginning of the golf season. Here we take a look at the key landmarks at this legendary venue ahead of the most hotly anticipated tournament in years.
Magnolia Lane
This is where it all begins for the players. The 330 yard entrance is, as the name would suggest lined by magnolia trees that meet in the middle to create a spectacular, if somewhat intimidating entrance to this most famous of venues.
Founders Circle
After reaching the end of Magnolia Lane, players arrive at Founders Circle where they’ll catch a first glimpse of the famous old clubhouse. So named due to the plaques at the base of the flagpole that towers over the circle are two plaques to honour Clifford Roberts and Bobby Jones who of course founded the club, the perfectly manicured lawn also features a flowerbed in the shape of the Masters logo. Kaymer out so solve Masters Puzzle
Apr 7th
Martin Kaymer has enjoyed a spell of form in the last two years that has seen him shoot up the world golf rankings and reach the summit of the game after he dethroned Lee Westwood, who had in turn done the same to the ‘untouchable’ Tiger Woods. This success has not just been based on multiple wins in the last 18 months, including last year’s US PGA championship, but Kaymer’s impressive consistency has also been a key factor. With Kaymer’s extremely dependable and repeatable swing, perhaps this consistency should be expected. Yet even with all his recent success, Kaymer has been reworking the swing that has seen him become the world’s best golfer in preparation for the US Masters. More >
