Entrepreneur and property magnate, Donald Trump has halted work at his new golf resort near Aberdeen following plans for the development of a wind farm off the coast of his billion dollar golfing haven. The dramatic Aberdeenshire coastline is famed for its rugged dunes which has created the perfect frame for Trump’s marquee development – Trump International Golf Links. With his picturesque vistas potentially due to be compromised, Trump has taken the bold decision to halt work on the development which has already received rave reviews by the golfing press.

In a letter by the Trump Organisation they state “We intend to open the championship golf course at the end of June, well ahead of schedule. All further plans for future development, including the hotel, are now on hold until the Scottish government makes a decision on the application for the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre. If the north east of Scotland is serious about tourism and creating a global golf destination it cannot allow the coastline to be ruined by an ugly industrial park directly off the shoreline.”

Trump goes onto say “Please understand that I am not fighting this proposal merely for the benefit of Trump International Golf Links. Instead I am fighting for the benefit of Scotland.”Every location in the United States with a magnificent coastline – nothing compared to Scotland – has successfully defeated these horrendous looking, noisy and inefficient structures.”

Whilst the golf course still looks ready to set the golfing world alight when it opens in June 2012, without the further infrastructure of the resort this may have a detrimental effect on the prospect of drawing in tourists looking to experience some of the greatest stretch of links land in the world.
