Stretching over hundreds of acres of pristine Lincolnshire countryside, it is obvious to see why so many key amateur tournaments have been played here over the last century. Celtic ManorCeltic Manor – South Wales

Host of the 2010 Ryder Cup and home to three fantastic championship golf courses, Celtic Manor has fast become one of the most popular golf break destinations in the UK. The Roman Road course is the oldest of the three at Celtic Manor and, in the past, has been voted as the best inland layout in Wales. The Montgomerie course has been made by building new holes and combining them with some holes that used to belong to the former Wentwood Hills Course, which played host to the Welsh Open from 2000 to 2004. Both of these courses feature dramatic undulations and the heavy rough is sure to hamper the progress of those who stray too far from the fairway.

As well as the amazing golf on offer, Celtic Manor also boasts five star accommodation and world class facilities including a lavish spa.

1 Night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast and 2 rounds of golf will set you back £123 per person (based on resort accommodation). More information on Celtic Manor Golf Breaks and Celtic Manor reviews.

Kings CourseGleneagles Perthshire

Gleneagles is home to three of the very best courses in the UK, each of which provides golfers with a different challenge to the last. The Queens Course is the shortest course on the resort but is a firm favourite with Gleneagles regulars and the members alike. The stretch of holes from the 12th onwards on the Queens is truly breathtaking and each hole is infinitely different from the last. The Kings Course is truly stunning and upon arriving on the tee of each hole you get the feeling you are about to play a special golf hole. The severe undulations make this course supremely enjoyable and the approaches into the raised greens will set your knees trembling! The PGA Centenary is set to host the 2014 Ryder Cup such is the quality of this Jack Nicklaus designed golf course. Nicklaus moves quickly to give the credit to the marvellous patch of land he was given to work with having said it is, “the finest parcel of land in the world I have ever been given to work with.” The greens on all three of these beautiful golf courses run at different speeds so as to keep visiting golfers guessing during their Gleneagles Golf Break.
